Risk Assessment for Science Operations

Complex science operations to be conducted onboard the R/V Sikuliaq should be screened via the Green-Amber-Red (GAR) Model to assess risks to personnel, the ship, equipment and science objectives. Operations that may present high risks need to be brought to the attention of the Marine Superintendent and Science Operations Manager during pre-cruise planning meetings. The Marine Superintendent and Science Operations Manager will coordinate advanced planning efforts with the science party, shipboard science support and crew to ensure that they can complete the scientific objective to the best of their ability.
