Sikuliaq Small Boats


Sikuliaq has three small boats that can be used for science operations:


Landing Craft - Biscuits and Wavy

The Svendsen Marine Landing Craft has a shallow draft and drop bow that allows for easier access onto ice floes and shallow beaches. The boat is cradled on a 20-foot flat rack that is normally stored on the main deck. If deck space is limited it can be stacked on top of a 20 foot ISO Van or stowed ashore.

  • 21 feet long
  • Powered by two, 140 hp, prop-driven, gas outboard motors
  • 84-gallon fuel tank
  • Top speed approximately 35 knots
  • Maximum number of passengers: 6
  • Lewmar 40 capstan winch on the starboard bow

Work Boat - Sikuliaq 1

  • 22 feet long
  • Powered by a 230 hp, prop-driven, diesel inboard/outboard
  • 100-gallon fuel tank
  • Top speed: approximately 32 knots
  • Maximum weight of cargo and passengers: 1400 lbs
  • Electronics Package: Furuno Navnet VX2 Radar/Chart Plotter, GPS/WAAS Receiver, DFF1 Network Sounder, and 600W 50/200 kHz Airmar P79 Transducer
  • 12 VDC bus available for science use
  • Webasto Air Top Evo 40 Heater in cabin.

  • It can accommodate 6 persons.
